The reset I did during the blizzard

Snowmaggeddon 2026 is real and it is absolutely wild out there.

Four of my family members live in the snow belt. We're talking Minneapolis all the way to Green Bay. They got completely buried.

One brother is packing for somewhere warm next week. Smart man. The other is using his snow day to do taxes. Less fun, but okay.

My mom started a new puzzle. My sister is crafting. And one sister is in Florida dealing with spring breakers instead of snowflakes. Honestly, not sure who has it worse.

Meanwhile, I'm watching the snow swirl outside and it's actually kind of beautiful. Until your back starts screaming from shoveling. (I haven't started the driveway yet.... mostly just poop paths for short-legged dogs!)

Here's the thing I noticed about big weather events. Everyone tenses up. Your shoulders creep up to your ears. Your jaw gets tight. Your whole body braces like it's waiting for something bad to happen.

So I tried something simple. I sat at the edge of my chair and felt my feet on the floor. I wiggled my toes and flexed them like a cat stretching its claws. (I challenge you to try lifting just your big toes. Now keep those down and lift the other four. Harder than it sounds, right?)

Then I put my hands on my low back and pulled them apart like soft claws. I worked up from my sacrum all the way to my lower ribs. Gentle, not deep. Just enough to wake things up.

Then I swept my fingers under my collar bones, from my sternum out to my shoulders. Three times. Deep breath. Then I pulled my fingertips down my jawline to my chin. Three times again.

And then I just... sat. My whole body felt different. Calmer. More here.

That sequence connects your fascial chains and brings you back into your body fast.

Which is exactly what The Unwinding Guidebook is built for. It's a full toolkit of simple resets that release stress stored in your body. Anytime you need it. Click here for more info.

Storm or no storm.

To your ease,

Email Hi Reader, There’s a certain kind of tension I see over and over again. It’s not from one injury. Not from one bad night of sleep. Not even from yard work. It’s the kind that builds slowly… quietly… over time. Shoulders that stay slightly lifted. A ribcage that barely moves. Breathing that never quite drops all the way in. A body that feels like it’s always just a little bit… braced. Sometimes I think of it like armor. Not the obvious kind. But the kind your body creates when it’s had...

Hello Reader, Last week it was snow. This week it's raking. Only in the Midwest, right? Here's the thing that shocked me early in my practice. Snow shoveling wasn't the big villain. Slipping on ice wasn't either. The thing that wrecked people every single year? Spring yardwork. By a MILE. People would explode outside on the first warm day. Raking, bending, hauling, twisting. Their bodies had been in hibernation mode all winter. Then suddenly — full chaos. And they'd land in my office looking...

Friday the 13th wind is something else. It's been howling outside my window all morning. Trees are bending. Garbage cans are rolling down the street like tumbleweeds. And everyone is freaking out about the snow coming Sunday. All week long, I heard the same thing. "I hope it won't be that bad." "Maybe the forecast is wrong." People bracing themselves. Guarding against hope like it might hurt them. Then last night, I talked to my neighbor. This guy is no-nonsense. Tough. But mid-conversation,...
